The official Dungeon Settlers system requirements list a 64-bit processor and operating system, Windows 10 or macOS 11, 4 GB of memory, and 2 GB of available storage as the baseline. On Windows, Steam lists an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, Intel HD Graphics 4000 with Shader Model 4.0 support, and DirectX 11; on macOS, it lists an Intel 64-bit or Apple Silicon processor, a Metal-capable graphics card, and 4 GB of graphics memory. These are minimum requirements, not a promise of a particular frame rate, resolution, or performance level during a large settlement or busy dungeon fight.

Verification note: The figures below are taken from the Steam store page reviewed on September 7, 2026. Steam does not list a separate recommended specification in the material reviewed for this page. Check the current store listing and official news before buying or troubleshooting after an update.

Windows minimum requirements

For Windows, the official Steam listing specifies Windows 10, a 64-bit processor and operating system, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000 graphics with Shader Model 4.0 support, DirectX version 11, and 2 GB of available storage. The page phrases these as minimum requirements. It does not give a target frame rate, graphics preset, or resolution for that hardware.

Compare every item rather than focusing only on the CPU or only on available disk space. A computer can have sufficient memory and storage while its graphics hardware lacks the listed feature support. Likewise, a modern-looking device may still need its operating system and graphics drivers checked before a game with DirectX requirements will run correctly.

The Steam listing includes sound-card and additional-notes fields as “TBD” for Windows. Do not invent an audio requirement or assume that “TBD” means any device is guaranteed compatible. It means the public page did not provide a specific requirement at the time this page was reviewed.

macOS minimum requirements

For macOS, Steam lists macOS 11, a 64-bit processor and operating system, either an Intel 64-bit CPU or Apple Silicon, 4 GB RAM, a Metal-capable graphics card, 4 GB of graphics memory, and 2 GB of available storage. This is the correct starting comparison for a Mac; do not substitute the Windows DirectX line for the Mac graphics requirement.

Apple Silicon is explicitly included in the processor line, but that alone is not a performance claim. Check your installed macOS version, free storage, and the system-reported graphics support, then compare them to the store listing. If your Mac meets the minimum but a specific scene runs poorly, that result may still be affected by settings, background workload, thermals, or an Early Access update.

The macOS audio field is also marked “TBD” in the reviewed listing. Keep that wording in mind if you are making a purchase decision that depends on a special audio device or unusual setup. The official requirement page is more reliable than assumptions based on another game or an older creator video.

Minimum specifications answer a narrow question: whether the developer lists the hardware and software as a baseline for running the game. They do not say how Dungeon Settlers will perform at a particular resolution, how large a settlement can become before performance changes, or whether every Early Access patch will behave identically. This is particularly important for a strategy game that combines settlement simulation with dungeon combat.

Steam’s reviewed page does not present a distinct recommended-specification table. Avoid turning an opinion, a benchmark from a different machine, or a “works for me” comment into an official recommendation. If you need confidence beyond the minimum, look for a current official update and test under a refund policy or on hardware that exceeds the listed baseline.

Do not treat more storage as the only extra margin worth having. Operating-system updates, game updates, save data, other applications, and temporary files can all affect the free space available while you play. Leave reasonable space beyond the bare 2 GB listing instead of planning around exactly zero headroom.

How to compare your PC with the listing

On Windows, open Settings → System → About to check the installed Windows version, processor, and installed RAM. Then open Settings → System → Display → Advanced display or Device Manager → Display adapters to identify the graphics hardware. Use the graphics maker’s current tools or specifications to confirm DirectX 11 and Shader Model 4.0 support when the device name alone is unclear.

Check free space in File Explorer before installing. The Steam page calls for 2 GB of available storage, but installation and updates may need working space beyond the final game files. Close unnecessary background software before a first test so you can distinguish a hardware limit from a temporary workload issue.

On a Mac, open Apple menu → About This Mac to verify the macOS version, chip or processor, and memory. Open System Settings → General → Storage to confirm available storage. The Steam page asks for Metal-capable graphics, so use Apple’s system information and the current store page rather than guessing from the age or model name of the Mac.

If your hardware is close to the minimum

Meeting every listed item is a good baseline, but it is not proof of a perfect experience. Start with a conservative test: close background applications, use current operating-system and graphics updates where appropriate, and run an early section before committing to a long settlement. Observe whether the issue appears consistently and note the conditions, such as a specific scene or menu.

If the game does not launch, confirm the operating-system version, 64-bit status, graphics support, installed memory, and free storage first. Then check the official Steam news channel for known changes or current support information. Do not install unrelated “fix” tools or change files based only on an undated forum post; Early Access problems need a source and a repeatable symptom.

If performance falls during a large session, the public minimum table does not tell us which individual setting is responsible. Reduce the testing variables, record your hardware and game version, and look for an official patch note before presenting a workaround as broadly reliable. Honest troubleshooting describes what was tested and what remains uncertain.

Questions this page cannot answer yet

This page cannot provide a recommended GPU, a guaranteed laptop model, a Steam Deck compatibility verdict, a fixed FPS target, or a precise benchmark because those claims are not in the official requirements reviewed here. It also cannot say that a specific system will perform well merely because it has more memory or a newer processor. Hardware balance and driver support are more complicated than one number.

For gameplay questions after confirming your system, begin with the Beginner Guide. Check Early Access to distinguish confirmed current scope from planned systems and to find the official update channel. Keeping requirements, live features, and player strategy separate makes each answer more useful.
